...We went to a friend's 40th birthday party on Friday night, and probably (well, definitely) drank too much wine. Was a great night though- a lot of dancefloor-action and silliness with balloons occurred. I'll tell you what though, I thought I was being fairly restrained with the old vino and switched to vodka, lime and sodas quite early on in order to avoid a nasty hangover, but man, I still felt ROUGH the next morning! Getting up at 6am with the kids probably didn't help, but still... I obviously can't hack the pace anymore .
On Saturday my lovely mum came to visit for the day. It's a nice chance for us to spend time together, and as Adam plays football on a Saturday afternoon I definitely appreciate someone else to help me entertain the littles for a while! The weather was dire so instead of a usual wander or trip out with Freddie and Sasha, we got some decent food in (Fresh tomato and basil soup (sadly not homemade!), warm olive bread and goats cheese)...
...and just ate and played with the kids all morning and afternoon.
My Mum is always roped in by Freddie to play with his cars. All.The.Time. Luckily Mum is a good sport and happily obliged. Good job too as Freddie's favourite phrase at the moment is "Granny DOWN PLEASE!" (at least he's polite I suppose!)

We also got a chance to scout ebay whilst the kids napped- i'm looking for a vintage 1930s art deco glass ceiling light for our lounge (we're having it decorated at last, woohoo- more of that to come!).
This is the sort of thing I have in mind:
Granny was especially popular on Saturday as she came with some more animals for Freddie's farm. The below are a groovy mismatched crew purchased from ebay- I LOVE the fact they are all waifs and strays and not from a 'proper' set!
Sunday involved meeting two of Freddie's godmothers, Loui and Lauren, for lunch in Balham. Drank a collosal amount of red wine and had a lamb roast. One of my favourite sort of Sundays involving friends!
So I'm starting to feel pretty festive now, definitely helped by the fact that the pub in Balham had a roaring open fire, decorations up already AND was serving compulsory Christmas mulled wine!
This week I will be spending quite a bit of time getting the house clean and tidy *yawn* in preparation for putting up our Christmas tree and decorating at the weekend- can't wait!
